People v. Cantrell.

No. 24PDJ046. 5/29/2024. Stipulation to Discipline.

August 13, 2024

The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved the parties’ stipulation to discipline and disbarred Samuel W. Cantrell (attorney registration number 44166), effective May 29, 2024.

On July 31, 2023, Cantrell pleaded guilty in Utah to two counts of forcible sexual abuse on an individual, a second degree felony. The factual predicate for Cantrell’s guilty plea involves his conduct at his residence in May 2021, when he inappropriately touched the buttocks and vagina of a 14-year-old girl without her consent with the intent to arouse his sexual desire.

Through this conduct, Cantrell violated Colo. RPC 8.4(b) (it is professional misconduct for a lawyer to commit a criminal act that reflects adversely on the lawyer’s honesty, trustworthiness, or fitness as a lawyer in other respects).

The case file is public per CRCP 242.41(a).
