People v. Owens.

No. 23PDJ030. 6/23/2023. Stipulation to Discipline.

August 11, 2023

The Presiding Disciplinary Judge approved the parties’ stipulation to reciprocal discipline and publicly censured Wendy S. Owens (attorney registration number 29204), effective June 23, 2023.

This reciprocal discipline case arose out of discipline imposed on Owens in Wyoming. On June 8, 2022, the Wyoming Supreme Court adopted the report and recommendation of the Wyoming State Bar’s Board of Professional Responsibility and publicly censured Owens. The report and recommendation were based on a stipulation between the Wyoming State Bar and Owens, who stipulated to violating Wyo. RPC 1.2(a) and Wyo. RPC 1.3 by failing to file objections to an opposing party’s filings contrary to her client’s instruction.

Through this conduct, Owens engaged in conduct constituting grounds for reciprocal discipline under CRCP 242.21, which calls for imposition of the same discipline as that imposed in Wyoming.
